From when I was nine years old…

April 22, 1981 — I was nine years old when I stepped onto the stage for my Arangetram, a three-hour Bharatanatyam duet recital with my sister Latha. I had been learning the art for over four years from my beloved gurus, Shri Narasimhachari and Smt. Vasanthalakshmi.
For the next 25 years, dance was my pursuit of personal excellence — a medium of self-expression that brought me the honour of performing for Presidents and Prime Ministers, among other dignitaries.
But after 32 years as a performer and choreographer, I realised this was only the beginning.
In the presence of my Guru Mahatria’s silence, I experienced something profoundly transformative. Dance began to flow through me — not as choreography, not for applause, but as pure energy… unbound, unshaped, sacred.
That night under the stars, movement became meditation. A deep stillness stirred within. I yielded to its call. My life has never been the same, as it continues to help me dissolve into the cosmic rhythm ever since…
From that surrender was born what I now call Maverick Fit Kids PhysicalLiteracy — a journey that brings together movement, mindfulness, culture, and connection for every child. What began as a personal discipline has now become a shared mission.
