‘Full many a gem of purest ray serene
the dark unfathomed caves of ocean bear
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen
and waste it’s sweetness on the desert air’
⁃ Thomas Gray’s ‘An elegy written in a country churchyard’
Many a story told with splendour
Many re-enacted with aplomb
Yet deep hidden in the visages of human psyche
The most bizarre ones rest uncrowned!
Many a tale inspire action
Many, uninhibited passion
Many tears, a smile or whopping laughter
While many weigh the heart into shame.
So often a word reminds of another
So real the inheritance of events past
Simple, complex & cunning truths
Bury the silent tale just in thoughts
Not every battle bears outward scars to prove
Not every victory any pride or sense of worth
Neither is every view the only reality
Nor every silent scream unworthy of support
Some lives inspire loud applause & cheer
Some the re-telling of humorous tales
Some the whispers of intrigue & desire
Some the silence of souls trembling in vain
Sharing a story makes pride yours
Or may be envy, ambition and enterprise
Yet the untold ones help release the narrative
From the title of ownership embedded in our minds.
Giving up possessions is a first step attempt
Giving up the possessor the difficult climb
Giving up your story wrought in past memory
Is a true rebirth – a victory over time!
